Dock Dogs Weekend is all about man's best friend!

Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is excited to host the first ever Dock Dogs Weekend in Harry A. Nottingham Park on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st. “This event promises fun for the whole family, even the four-legged type”, said Danita Chirichillo, Special Events Supervisor for the Town of Avon.

“Dock Dogs Weekend” is all about man’s best friend! The event weekend features Dog Town where you can enjoy fantastic food and an ice cold beer from Crazy Mountain Brewery, test your pooch at the “AKC Good Citizen’s” testing arena, Canine Country School will be offering agility demonstrations and free clinics, Dunk-n-Dog open swim area in Nottingham Lake, pet friendly vendors showcasing their products and offering free samples. Vail Valley Animal ER will be on-site offering assistance to your animal for minor injuries such as scrapes, scratches and hydration issues during the event weekend.

As part of the Dock Dogs Weekend, the Town of Avon is partnering with the Eagle Valley Humane Society and Vail Pet Partners to present the fourth annual “Doggy Dash” event on Sunday, August 21st at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds from the Doggy Dash go directly to the Eagle Valley Humane Society dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of all animals. To register for the Doggy Dash 5k Fun Run/Walk please visit www.avon.org and click on the Dock Dogs button or come early on Sunday morning for on-site registration. Pre-registration before August 19th is only $15 per dog, humans are free or $20 cash only on event day.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the national Dock Dogs competition to include “Big Air”, “Extreme Vertical” and “Speed Retrieve”. If your dog is not quite ready for competition you can still participate in the pre-event training seminars taking place each morning at 8:30 a.m.
